Making Tech Compensation Transparent

We're Making Tech
Compensation Transparent

Born from personal experience navigating RSU taxation mistakes, Wealthy Noob helps tech employees maximize their equity and avoid costly errors.

Our Mission

Democratize access to sophisticated financial guidance that's traditionally reserved for high-net-worth individuals.

Origin Story

How Wealthy Noob Started

Every great product starts with a personal pain point. Here's mine.

The $50K Mistake

2018

Joined Amazon as a Software Engineer. Didn't plan for RSU vesting tax impact. Held too many shares assuming they'd keep rising. Stock dropped 20%, and quarterly tax payment caught me off guard. Lost $50K in one quarter between stock depreciation and tax penalties.

Company-specific guidance matters

The Search

2019

Spent months looking for clear, actionable advice on RSU taxation, AMT calculations, and ESPP optimization. Every resource was generic. "Consult a tax professional" appeared 100+ times. No one addressed Amazon's specific vesting schedule or withholding rates.

Generic advice fails tech employees

Building the Solution

2020

Started documenting company-specific strategies. Built first RSU tax calculator. Shared with colleagues at Amazon, Google, and Meta. Response was overwhelming - everyone faced the same confusion. Realized this needed to be a platform, not just personal notes.

We needed Wealthy Noob

Wealthy Noob Launch

2021

Launched with 5 company guides and 3 calculators. First user saved $25K in taxes using our RSU tax planning guide. Added DeFi section after realizing tech employees were getting rugged in yield farming. Built comparison tools for credit cards optimized for tech spending patterns.

From personal pain to community resource

Today

2025

36+ company guides, 10+ specialized calculators, 50K+ users, and $2M+ in estimated tax savings. Still operated with the same mission: give tech employees the sophisticated financial guidance they deserve, completely free.

About the Founder

Former Software Engineer at Amazon • Self-Taught Financial Optimizer

After making a costly $50K mistake with RSU taxation in 2018, I spent years studying tech compensation structures, tax optimization strategies, and equity planning. What started as personal research notes became Wealthy Noob - the resource I wish existed when I first got my offer letter.

Today, Wealthy Noob serves 50,000+ tech professionals across FAANG companies, unicorns, and startups. My goal is simple: ensure no tech employee makes the same expensive mistakes I did.
